Someone is watching you

So yesterday I woke and saw that I had been tagged in a post on Facebook and it had been posted by my God-sister. The post was her sharing about her decision to rededicate her life to God  and as she began to close out the post she began to thank people who “led by example” and to my surprise I was one of the people that she thanked. It was at that moment that I realized that people are watching me. I never saw myself as being someone’s role model. I never thought that I was good enough for someone to want to be like me or for someone to want to make a change in their life because of the way that I live mine. I know I can not be the only one who feels this way or has felt this way in the past. Like there is no way I could be a good influence  when I struggle to keep myself on track and I mess up daily. You see, the thing is despite what you think about yourself people are watching you. They understand that you are not perfect and that you mess up and make mistakes and fall short constantly but it’s still something about you that people see as an example. And now that I realize that people are watching me I am going to make it my business to live better and, do better and, be better because I don’t want someone to miss heaven because they were watching me. So be mindful of how you live because you never know who is watching you. So be unique, be you and in the process find your voice. XOXO.

Confessions of a Church girl

One of the most essential things for people to know about me is that I am saved. I made the decision to dedicate my life to God. However, it’s not easy. Unless you have made the choice to make the commitment yourself you can never understand how challenging it can be. Being saved and making a commitment means that you can not do everything that everyone else does. You  can not carry yourself anyway you want because you could be the only example of Christ some people will ever see. Sometimes it feels like you miss out because you have to set yourself apart from other people. Sometimes you feel like you have to be perfect and you can’t make mistakes. There have even been times where it seemed like not being saved would be an easier decision than letting people down and messing up. People may not always like you because of the life you live. Regardless of how much of a struggle it may be it is also the greatest experience. It is so amazing to know that despite all of the mistakes that you make there is a God that loves you with an unconditional love and even if you leave him he will never leave you. There is a joy in knowing that  God put you on this earth for a reason and that everything that you go through is not in vain and it is not for nothing because you know that at the end of the day when you come out of your situation you will come out on top and God will make your test your testimony. And the most amazing feeling is when you have true and honest encounters with God and you feel his presence and sometimes it will not even be at that those expected times and in the expected places but that is the amazing thing about God…things may not go how you want them to when you want them to but his timing is always perfect. It may not be easy but serving God is the best decision I’ve ever made. If you have a relationship with God don’t let it go let it grow.  And if you do not have a relationship with him develop one because it is the most amazing relationship you could ever have… challenges and all.    Well until then be unique, be you and in the process find your voice and do not apologize for it. XOXO

No comparison

Have  you ever looked at one of your talents compared to other people’s and thought “wow they are so much better than me” or “I wish my gift of (fill in the blank) was a strong as that person or it would make as much of an impact as that persons.” Maybe you are  thinking “why is that person famous and i’m not when I am just as good or better then them.” The bottom line is we all to some capacity feel the need to compare and lets be honest it’s almost impossible not to. We as a people have become so consumed with social media, and the internet and this place of instant gratification and becoming over night sensations and getting peoples approval and that becomes what we strive for. In all actuality not everyone is meant to be in the spotlight. Sometimes we need people to stay where they are and make an impact in their community. I am sure that there are some amazing performers and singers that could out do the best of them but barely anyone has ever heard them. God has a special purpose for each and every one one of our gifts and talents  and it’s not going to be the same as other peoples purpose because there different people in this world that need us for different reasons and if we are not in position then God can’t use us and that person will miss out on what they needed from us. Just trust Gods plan and believe that he is putting you in certain places for a reason. DO NOT think less of your gifts or your abilities because it’s not where you think you should be. And also be unique, be you and in the process find your voice and don’t apologize for it. XOXO.

Your Journey, Gods Plan

In life one of the biggest yet hardest lessons for me to learn is that it is okay to be different. It becomes so easy to look at people and the way that they live their lives and think wow I would love to be like them and have the money that they have, the friends that they have, the ability to live life the way that they do. One of the hardest battles that people fight is peer pressure. We always assume that peer pressure is a battle with other people when in reality it is a battle against ourselves. We battle our thoughts and emotions. We battle with our desires and our knowledge of right and wrong. However, what we fail to realize is that people pay a great price to live the life that they live. We think that people live such amazing lives but we have no idea what kind of demons they struggle with. The battles that they had to fight and overcome in-order to get to where they are now. And we envy these people because of their money and their status and because everything looks picture perfect on the outside and so we work hard to strive to be where other people are but we can never obtain it because we can never travel on their journey. What God has for each and every one of us will not match the next person. We miss out on so many blessings because we are trying to obtain a blessing that belongs to someone else. It’s okay to be you. Life may not be what you want it to be right now, you may not have achieved all of your dreams just yet, there may be someone who’s life seems so much better than yours but trust that God has it all worked out for you. God may  be about to take you to the moon but we settle for going as high up as the clouds because that’s what those other people and right now I am struggling to even get off the ground but if we would only just trust him. Matthew 17:20 says that if you just have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains. You are enough, just trust the process. Do not feel like you have to change who you are because at the end of the day whatever God has for you will take place. Don’t be discouraged. Be unique, be you and, in the process find your voice and do not apologize for it. XOXO
